Welcome to the Trot 2 equestrian website. We are a family run business from the North East of England and have worked in the equestrian world for over 30 years. With the opening of our fantastic country store over 6 years ago we have established ourselves as one of the premier equestrian stockists in the region with a reputation for the highest standards of customer care and service. We stock over 15,000 products representing all the top brands in leatherwork, rugs, safety, clothing and equestrian equipment - all at very competitive prices. We are also members of the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA).

Please read our terms and conditions carefully, if you do not agree with something written within them, do not use this website. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. By using the trot2.com website, you signify your agreement to be bound by all of these terms. We will endeavor to provide you with uninterrupted, error free access to our website, however due to the nature of the internet this can not always be guaranteed. On rare occasions your access may be restricted or interrupted to allow updates, upgrades or repairs, we will endeavor to carry out such tasks in the shortest time possible.

Your Account

You are responsible for ensuring that your account details and passwords remain confidential when using our website and agree to accept responsibility for all activities which occur under your account and password. If you become concerned at any point that this information has become known to someone else or that your account is being misused please contact us immediately.

Please ensure you provide us with details which are complete and correct when setting up your account. Please advise us should these details change at any time or you wish your details to be removed.

Our Contract with you

When you place an order to purchase goods from Trot2.com you will be sent a confirmation email containing details of your order. We also accept orders by telephone and a confirmation email can be sent at your request. A contract between you and Trot2.com exists only when the order has been accepted and payment processed.

All of our products are subject to availability and we reserve the right to edit or remove items from our site, refuse access to the website or cancel orders at our discretion. If for any reason we have to cancel an order it will be without charge to you and you will be notified immediately or offered an alternative. All delivery dates are estimates.

We make every effort to ensure the pictures used to illustrate products on our website are accurate; in some circumstances pictures are used for illustrative purposes only where product photographs are not available. If you are at all unsure about the item you are buying please phone us for details. If you believe the item you have purchased was represented incorrectly on our site we will provide you with a full refund and reimburse your postage back to us.

We make every effort to maintain the prices shown on our Website. Prices however are liable to increase beyond our control and therefore we reserve the right to discontinue items or to amend prices when necessary. If the cost of your order differs from the prices originally quoted, we will contact you, either by telephone or email, to request your instructions on how to proceed. Prices listed on our website may differ from those in our shop. We regret that we are not able to offer the same discounts on items purchased in store.

All prices quoted include VAT at the current rate of 15%, where this is applicable.

Payment

The fastest way to pay for your order is by credit or debit card, we accept all major credit cards. Payment is taken immediately by our online payment provider Protx. Protx offers a secure payment gateway for online credit and debit card processing. By handling our payments in this secure manner it ensures no persons at trot2.com ever view your card details. If you decide to cancel your order or we cannot fulfil a full refund will be issued to your card via a second Protx transaction. Do not email your card details. We can accept no responsibility if you provide us with your details in this way. Card fraud is illegal and will always lead to prosecution.

Trot2.com take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party obtains unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from Trot2.com.

Payment can also be made by cheque. Please make all cheques payable to Houghton Equestrian and allow 14 working days for payment to clear before your items are dispatched. Items will only be dispatched once your cheque has cleared.

Gift vouchers can easily be redeemed at the checkout by typing in the two codes printed on the gift voucher in the clearly marked boxes on the checkout page. A voucher can be used as full or part payment. If you do not use up the full amount of your voucher in one transaction our computer system will automatically calculate how much remains on the voucher so as the same codes can be used in your next transaction. Vouchers can also be redeemed in store.

Special Orders

We are happy to order special items for you, such as personalized goods, custom made body protectors, non stock items and products made in different colours to those stocked. To order such items please phone us on 01661 853110. We regret to inform you that all special orders are non-returnable. Cancellations must be made within 4 days of placing the order and must be made by telephone.

Postage

We endeavour to post out your goods the same day they are ordered; however in busy periods this can take a little longer. Postage costs are detailed below; we reserve the right to amend these costs for large or bulky items both within the UK and overseas. Please email or phone if you are concerned about this. All goods are posted using either Recorded First Class with the royal mail or via courier; goods cannot be classified as lost until 14 days after posting. Please note for overseas orders postage can take longer and may be subject to import tax. Any charges for customs must be paid by you, we have no control over these and do not know what they may be as customs policies vary from country to country. Contact your local customs officer for full details and regulations.

  • Standard UK delivery - £4.50
  • UK orders over the value of £50 - delivery free
  • UK non-mainland delivery - £9.50
  • Europe delivery - £12.00
  • Worldwide delivery - £20.00

Returns

Please check the condition of your parcel on delivery prior to signing for acceptance. In the event that goods are missing or damaged on arrival please specify against your signature and inform us immediately, within 3 working days, otherwise no claim can be considered.

Refunds or exchanges are made in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. Under this regulation you have 7 days from the day following receipt of your goods to return them. If you wish to return an item you do so at your own expense (unless the item is faulty); the item must be unused and in its original condition (including tags). This does not affect your statutory rights.

The following is a quick guide to our returns policy:

  • You have 14 days to return a non-sale item to us; items must be in their original packaging, unworn and not damaged. A full refund or exchange will be given.
  • You have 7 days to return a sale item to us for a full refund; you then have a further 7 days in which you can return the item but no refund can be given - you will be offered either an exchange or credit note (valid for 12 months).
  • If an item is faulty on arrival you have 14 days in which to contact us for a full refund or exchange. If an item is faulty you will be reimbursed your postage back to us. Items deemed faulty after this period will be dealt with on a case by case basis in consultation with manufacturers. 
  • If a parcel looks damaged on arrival do not sign for it; instead refuse the parcel as damaged during posting.
  • We offer an extended period of returns at Christmas for goods purchased as Christmas presents. Last return date for Christmas presents is January 14th.

If you wish to return an item after these periods you must seek authorisation by telephone. Credit note or exchange only will be offered after 14 days for non-sale items or 7 days for sale items.

Please note the following cannot be returned or exchanged unless faulty: Riding Hats, Personalised and Special order items, Underwear, DVDs and Computer software. In some circumstances we may accept riding hats back however this must be via prior consent of the manager by telephone. Riding Hats are a safety product and therefore any riding hats that are returned will be subject to a 20% restocking fee to cover the costs of checking the hats are still safe and undamaged for resale. 

You must make your own arrangements to return goods to us and you will be responsible for the cost of return unless goods are faulty. We recommend that you obtain proof of postage as Trot2.com cannot be held responsible for any goods lost during transit back to us.

You will be refunded the full value of the goods purchased less carriage charge paid. If your original order qualified for free delivery (value over £50) however the items returned brings the value of you order below £50 a carriage charge will be deducted from your refund. If a complete sale is returned and refunded from an order originally over £50 you will also incur a carriage charge.

Goods returned under complaint will not be accepted unless clean and dry. Health & Safety Act 1972.

Overseas Orders

We are happy to export orders. Goods ordered from Trot2.com for delivery outside the UK may be subject to import duties and taxes, these will be levied once the parcel reaches it’s destination country. Any charges for customs must be paid by you, we have no control over these and do not know what they may be as customs policies vary from country to country. Contact your local customs officer for full details and regulations.
