Why put a stable rug on a horse?
The extra insulation provided by a good horse blanket will help to keep your horse warm, therefore protecting against loss of body fat through heat loss. You benefit from this as you won't have to feed your horse as much or as often!
A good horse rug, such as any of the Horseware range available through Trot2, provides not only insulation but keeps your horse cleaner by stopping air pollutants and dirt ingress from trees, walls and fences. The full coverage provided by a horse rug helps to protect against exposure to chemical pollutants carried along in the atmosphere, which are deposited via rain droplets and wind. This means that you don't have to spend so much time cleaning and grooming your horse!
Our range of Horseware stable rugs provide protection for your horse, giving extra padding and coat protection against those odd kicks, bites and collisions with walls and posts.
The fastenings for a stable rug are of course important. You should look for fastenings that are not only easy to use, but are sturdy enough to cope with the daily use you will be subjecting the rug to on your horse. Usually a stable rug will have fastenings around the neck and under the belly with a fastening around the tail on some models. This type of fastening system ensures maximum security of the horse blanket on your horse and minimum chance of slippage whilst out in the paddock or stable.
